I'm Brittany — a mom of four, photographer for 17+ years, and someone who's been exactly where you are. I do what I do because I know how fast these days slip by, and I want to make sure you remember every beautiful, chaotic, fleeting moment.
Hi there!
The North Idaho pregnancy resources you actually need — all in one place.
Navigating pregnancy in Coeur d’Alene and the surrounding North Idaho area is so much easier when you know where to turn… but most families don’t discover half of these resources until they’re already overwhelmed, deep in it, and wishing they had known sooner.
North Idaho has an incredibly strong (and quietly connected) community of providers — from OBs and midwives to doulas, pelvic floor therapists, chiropractors, and postpartum support. This guide brings together the most trusted pregnancy resources in Coeur d’Alene and North Idaho so you can build your care team early, intentionally, and with confidence.
Whether you’re newly pregnant, trying to conceive, or simply planning ahead, bookmark this. These are the providers I personally trust, or who come highly recommended by the moms in this community I know and love.
Note: Always verify current availability and insurance directly with each provider, as schedules and policies change.
One important tip before we start: book early. Really early.
For OB practices and midwives in North Idaho, waiting lists fill up fast. If you’re newly pregnant, or even just planning, reach out now. Many midwives accept only a small number of clients per year and can fill their calendars 6–8 months out. Don’t assume you have time!

Dr. John J. Kim, MD, FACOG — Coeur OBGYN
980 W Ironwood Dr, Suite 201, Coeur d’Alene | (208) 765-4888 | coeurobgyn.com
Dr. John Kim is a board-certified OB/GYN and Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (FACOG) with over 20 years of experience. He practices at Coeur OBGYN — an independent women’s health clinic on Ironwood Drive — which is separate from Kootenai Clinic and offers comprehensive OB/GYN care including obstetrics, gynecologic surgery, and high-risk pregnancy. Dr. Kim is affiliated with Kootenai Health and is currently accepting new patients. Patients describe him as someone who truly listens, answers every question thoroughly, and makes you feel like his only patient. He is also a former assistant professor at Loma Linda University Medical Center and pioneered their da Vinci robotics training program — in other words, highly skilled hands in the room.

Reminder: Midwives in North Idaho book up very quickly. If you’re planning a home birth or out-of-hospital birth, reach out in the first trimester — ideally as soon as you have a positive test. Most midwives take only a handful of clients per month, and spots go fast. Don’t wait.
North Idaho is genuinely well-served by its midwifery community. Here are the practices I know and trust:
Cascadia Midwifery
cascadiamidwifery.com | (509) 850-0527 | briana@cascadiamidwifery.com
Cascadia Midwifery offers low-volume, individualized home birth care for low-risk families throughout the Spokane/North Idaho area. Briana is a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) through NARM with a Bachelor of Science in Midwifery and has been serving this region since 2018. Because she keeps her caseload intentionally small, the care is genuinely personal — you’ll know your midwife well before birth day. First prenatal visits begin around 8–12 weeks. Free consultations available.
Serves within one hour of Spokane Valley, covering most of the CDA/Post Falls/Hayden area.
Kairos Midwifery — Tammy Desjardins, LM, CPM, BSM
kairosmidwifery.com | (208) 770-0784 | kairos.midwife@gmail.com 1621 N 3rd St, Suite 400, Coeur d’Alene
Kairos Midwifery is a home birth practice serving both Spokane and Kootenai Counties, with a local office right in Coeur d’Alene. Midwife Tammy Desjardins holds her Licensed Midwife (LM), Certified Professional Midwife (CPM), and Bachelor of Science in Midwifery credentials. The name “Kairos” itself speaks to her philosophy — a Greek word for the appointed, perfect moment — which reflects her approach to birth as something to be honored rather than managed. HazelTree Midwifery — Kim Palmer, LM, CPM
hazeltreemidwifery.com | (208) 699-3625 Based at Peony Birthing Suites, Post Falls
Kim Palmer is a midwife with nearly three decades of experience in birth work, beginning as a doula in 1995 and earning her CPM certification in 2012. She is licensed in both Idaho and Washington, and serves Kootenai County and surrounding areas. HazelTree is based out of Peony Birthing Suites in Post Falls, giving clients the option of a birth center setting in addition to home birth. Services include routine prenatal care and lab work, water birth, postpartum care and home visits, lactation support, newborn care, nutritional counseling, and 24/7 on-call access from 37 weeks. Clients describe Kim and her team as making you feel like family — the kind of care where every appointment feels peaceful and unhurried.

Amie is deeply passionate about nutrition, hydration, and the role of lifestyle in pregnancy outcomes, and she loves talking through all of it with her clients. She has a strong and respected relationship with Kootenai Health for transfers when needed, and her clients consistently describe feeling safe, confident, and well-prepared under her care. Certified in CPR and Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP). Free consultation available. Instagram: @serenity_midwives
Juniper Midwifery
thejunipermidwife.com Serving CDA, Spokane, and surrounding areas
Juniper Midwifery is a solo midwife practice providing holistic, trauma-informed, evidence-based home birth care throughout Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho. Because it’s a solo practice, you will know your midwife deeply before your birth — and at least two skilled birth attendants will be present on the day. Juniper’s approach is grounded in informed decision-making and a deep trust in the body’s ability to birth. Prenatal care follows the same schedule as an OB (starting around 10–12 weeks), and the practice is licensed in both Idaho and Washington. Past clients describe Juniper as the perfect blend of “firm no-nonsense and warm fuzzy support” — exactly what you want in a birth room.

Jennifer Bookamer — Bookamer Birth Services
Jennifer Bookamer is one of North Idaho’s most experienced and trusted birth doulas, as well as a certified childbirth educator. Her philosophy is simple and powerful: the way you are supported during birth shapes how you feel about the entire experience. Jennifer believes every family deserves to look back on their birth and remember feeling safe and respected — regardless of how the birth unfolds. She also mentors other doulas in the region and teaches childbirth education classes (currently in collaboration with Lake City Physical Therapy in Rathdrum). Whether you want an unmedicated birth, an induction, or a cesarean, Jennifer brings knowledge, calm, and advocacy to every scenario.
Victoria Wagner — Soully Nourished
Victoria Wagner is a degreed nutritionist and birth doula — a rare and valuable combination in the North Idaho birth community. She founded Soully Nourished in 2023 after experiencing her own postpartum challenges firsthand, and has built her practice around the belief that nourishment and support go hand in hand. As a doula, her packages include two prenatal meetings, continuous labor support, and two postpartum visits. She also offers high-protein, nutrient-dense postpartum meal preparation for recovering mamas — something almost no one else in the region provides. If you want someone who shows up for both your birth and your body afterward, Victoria is a standout.
Mya Shuck — Mya Shuck Birth Services
Mya Shuck has been serving North Idaho and the greater Spokane area as a birth doula since 2017, with a Wholistic Woman birth doula training and Midwife’s Assistant Certification under her belt. She’s a homeschool mom and pastor’s wife with deep roots in the community, and her approach centers on helping every mama walk away from her birth feeling supported, empowered, and truly prepared for what comes next. Clients describe her as attentive, ready to advocate for you, and the person you absolutely want in your corner.

Intuitive Hands Massage — Tara | Hayden
Hayden (near Ramsey & Hayden Ave)
Tara at Intuitive Hands Massage has an exceptional reputation in the North Idaho community for pregnancy and postpartum massage. Past clients describe her as thorough, genuinely intuitive, and deeply committed to making each session safe and comfortable — including in the third trimester when things get logistically interesting. Multiple reviewers credit her specifically with relieving pelvic pain that made walking difficult. Her prices are reasonable and she books up, so get on her calendar early.
Tip: Book a few sessions in advance — she fills quickly once word gets out.
Other Trusted Prenatal Massage Options

Chiropractic care — especially Webster Technique — is widely used during pregnancy to support pelvic alignment, relieve low back and hip pain, reduce intrauterine constraint, and help position baby optimally for birth. Many doulas and midwives recommend starting chiropractic care early in pregnancy rather than waiting until pain becomes significant.
Optimal Chiropractic — Post Falls
609 N Calgary Court, Suite 1, Post Falls | (208) 777-4305 | optimal-chiro.com
Optimal Chiropractic is one of the most well-loved chiropractic practices in North Idaho, consistently earning top reviews across the region. Drs. Chris Nelson and Emily Wentworth are both Palmer College graduates who use a range of techniques including Thompson, Gonstead, the Palmer Package, myofascial release, and instrument-assisted soft tissue therapy. They offer walk-in appointments and affordable cash rates for those without insurance coverage. Conveniently located in Post Falls off Polston Avenue, easily accessible from CDA and Hayden.
Rooted Chiropractic Club — Dr. Alison, Dr. Joe & Dr. Ashli
rootedchiropracticclub.com | Hayden (CDA area)
Rooted Chiropractic Club is one of the most specialized prenatal and pediatric chiropractic practices in North Idaho, and it shows. Dr. Alison holds two ICPA certifications — Webster Technique and the CACCP (pediatric chiropractic specialty) — and spent two years training under one of California’s top prenatal and pediatric chiropractors before coming to CDA. Dr. Joe is also Webster certified with a background in perinatal and whole-family care. Their newest team member, Dr. Ashli, is Webster certified, Perinatal certified, and CACCP certified, with six years of focused prenatal and pediatric practice behind her. The office is intentionally family-friendly — babies and kids are very welcome — and the approach is gentle, specific, and nervous-system focused. Many of the best doulas and midwives in our area refer their clients here without hesitation.
Dr. Phil Spradley — Atlast Chiropractic
atlastchiropractic.org | 1624 E Seltice Way, Suite B, Post Falls | (208) 777-0128
Dr. Phil Spradley is a Palmer College graduate (with honors) who went above and beyond during his training — logging an additional 400 hours to master the Blair Technique, a precise and gentle upper cervical chiropractic method that requires no twisting, cracking, or heavy manipulation. His patients consistently describe walking in barely able to move and walking out pain-free. He’s a deeply community-rooted provider with a passion for serving families, and his approach is especially well-suited for pregnancy and postpartum care where gentleness and precision matter most. Located in Post Falls on Seltice Way.

This is the one most expecting parents don’t know about until postpartum — and by then, they wish they’d started sooner. Pelvic floor PT during pregnancy helps prepare your body for labor and delivery. Postpartum, it can address leaking, prolapse, pain with intercourse, scar tissue, and more. North Idaho is genuinely lucky to have a world-class clinic right here.
Inland Pelvic Health & Physical Therapy
8382 N Wayne Dr, Suite 204, Hayden | (208) 719-9071 | inlandpelvic.com
Inland Pelvic Health is the gold standard for pelvic floor care in the Inland Northwest. Founded by Laura Steininger, DPT, CAPP-OB, and winner of the Kootenai County “Top 30 Under 40” two years in a row, this clinic is staffed by a team of Doctors of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapists who specialize exclusively in pelvic health. Every patient receives one-on-one, full-hour sessions in a private treatment room — no rushing, no sharing your hour with other patients. They treat everything from pregnancy-related pelvic pain and incontinence to postpartum recovery, prolapse, painful intercourse, endometriosis-related pain, and fertility support. Many OBs and midwives in the area refer patients here routinely.
Common pregnancy reasons to see a pelvic PT: pubic symphysis pain, SI joint pain, sciatica, round ligament pain, leaking when sneezing or laughing, and preparing the pelvic floor for delivery. Common postpartum reasons: diastasis recti, leaking, prolapse, pelvic pain, and return to exercise guidance.
Scheduling note: Inland Pelvic Health often has a wait for new patients — call ahead or get on their waitlist early in pregnancy.
