I'm Brittany — a mom of four, photographer for 17+ years, and someone who's been exactly where you are. I do what I do because I know how fast these days slip by, and I want to make sure you remember every beautiful, chaotic, fleeting moment.
Hi there!
April 29, 2026
Summer is almost here, and if you have been thinking about finally booking that family session, this is your sign. Not the “we’ll get around to it” kind of thinking but the real, put-it-on-the-calendar, tell-the-kids kind of commitment. Because outdoor family sessions in North Idaho this time of year? It is genuinely stunning. We are surrounded by mountains, golden prairie grasses, lake bays, and wildflower fields that make for the kind of family portraits you will want to frame and hang in your entryway forever.
And I want to help you figure out exactly where your family belongs in all of it.
See my limited availability for summer sessions here!

Not every family is the same, and honestly, that is what makes this so fun. Some families want to hike to a summit and feel on top of the world. Others want that golden-hour glow without breaking a sweat. Some love the idea of water nearby. The right location is not just about what looks beautiful – it is about what feels like you.
If you’re ready to plan your session, you can view session details and inquire here. If you’re still deciding where your family fits best, keep reading!

Here is a look at some of the spots I love for summer sessions in this area:
If your family is the top-of-the-mountain type, Mt. Spokane delivers. The views are insane, and depending on timing, you can catch seasonal wildflowers that add a gorgeous, painterly quality to portraits. This one is for the adventurous families who want their photos to feel as epic as their weekends actually are.
Mt. Spokane is part of the larger Spokane outdoor area, and you can find more information about seasonal access and recreation through Visit Spokane

Tall grasses, golden hour glow, mountains in the distance – and no serious hiking required. This spot is perfect for families who want a breathtaking, outdoorsy setting without the trail. The light here in the evening is the kind that makes every photo look like it was intentional (it was, but still).

The lake has so many bays and scenic pull-offs to explore. Water, trees, light filtering through – it creates a backdrop that feels timeless. This is a strong choice for families who love being near the water and want that classic North Idaho feel woven into their portraits.
You can explore more of the lake access points and scenic areas through Visit Coeur d’Alene, which is a great resource if you’re planning a day around your session.

Here is something I want every family to know: a great session does not start when you pull into the parking lot. It starts well before that.
Before your session, I send you session prep that sets you up for success – clear directions to where we are meeting, outfit guidance that actually fits your location and the season, and everything you need to feel confident walking in. No scrambling the morning of trying to figure out if your outfits work together. That part is handled.
And then there is the part that matters even more to me than the session itself: what happens after.
A digital gallery is a great safety net – yes, absolutely. But a folder of images sitting on a hard drive or a link that expires is not the same as a framed portrait on your wall or an heirloom album on your coffee table. Families come to me because they know I will help them take it all the way. From design to hand-delivering their finished artwork, I take care of every detail. Custom framed prints. Linen-bound albums. The whole thing. Because your family story deserves a physical place in your home, not just a spot in a cloud storage folder.
You can learn more about family session pricing and the experience here.

I hear it constantly. “Sorry in advance for my toddler.” “Our teenager is not thrilled about this.” “Fair warning, it might be chaos.”
Here is what I want you to actually hear: I am a mom to four kids. The chaos is not a problem. It is part of the plan.
The meltdown that feels like it will ruin everything? It passes in ten minutes and is completely forgotten. The angsty teenager who crosses their arms at the start? They usually crack a real smile before we are done. The toddler who bolts the moment I lift my camera? That is a running shot waiting to happen.
So come ready to put your phones away. Really enjoy your kids – not through a screen, but right there in the moment. Never apologize for the mess or the mood. This is meant to be more than a session. It is time to unplug, celebrate your family, and let me do what I do. When something unexpected happens, we pivot and keep creating. That is not a backup plan. That is just how it works, and I love it.

These photos are not going to live their best life in a Dropbox folder. They are going to be on your wall. They are going to be in an album your kids flip through when they are grown. They are going to be the thing someone reaches for someday when they want to feel close to this chapter of your family’s story.
That is why I take every part of this seriously – the location scouting, the prep, the session itself, and especially the products at the end. Because years from now, you are not going to wish you had fewer photos of your family. You are going to be grateful you said yes to this.

If you are ready to book a summer session and you are not sure which location fits your family best, that is exactly what I am here for. Whether it is the wildflower-covered summit of Mt. Spokane, the glowing prairie grasses at Liberty Lake, or a gorgeous bay along Lake Coeur d’Alene, we will find your spot.
Reach out and tell me what sounds like you. I will help you get there – with your outfits sorted, your location locked in, and a plan for turning your portraits into something you will actually see every single day.
